All the days are blending together

Sorry it has been so long since our last update. We have had a really busy couple of days and limited internet. Currently, I am sitting in Agave a local mexican restaurant in Oberlin, OH. Earlier today we stood over the great Niagara falls. We could see a rainbow from almost ever angle. I guess it is only fair I back track a bit and try to explain our last days in Saratoga. After Alek's hand injury there was still a ton left to be done on the bus. The morning started with a mechanical scare. Our battery died and my car wasn't powerful enough to jump it. The man helping us told me that he thought it might a mechanical problem. At which point i would have been happy to jump under the bus if i though it would start. be We had yet to build a wall, secure the couch, PAINT THE BUS, and pack. I have no idea how but it all got done. On Tuesday, Ashley and I set out to paint. It took nearly 6 hours to tape and paper over everything that we didn't want spray painted. It was scorching hot, but we continued on knowing the rewards of finally painting this bus were right around the corner. WRONG. By the time we got done taping and papering it was pouring. I was positive that all our hard work was going to be for nothing since paper devolves in Saratoga downpours. We began to think we could wait out the bad weather but 1) the rain was not letting up one bit and 2) even if the paper did hold up...you can't paint a wet bus. Max built our wall, but discovered the hard way that sheetrock isn't a very durable material. Another no good very bad day.
Our luck turned around on Wednesday. I popped out of bed at 7AM so excited to see that it was not raining. In my pj's, I ran out of the Stables house like a mad women to go touch our bus (to see if it had dried). IT HAD, and the paper was still there. I called ashley and we started painting the bus right away. The main body in a brilliant blue, the face and butt in a meadow green, and accented in "real" orange. Throughout the day we made about 5 trips to AC Moore and Walmart, and I fairly certain that the people at Home Depot recognize me enough to notice that I hadn't changed my clothes in the past few days....oh well. The finishing touch included stenciling his name on the front, "GUS THE BUS" as per the vote :). Note to everyone who plans to be using a lot of spray paint: your fingers will never feel the same again and even if they feel the same they won't look the same since it it does not come off (grout doesn't either). After painting GUS he looked awesome but there was still plenty to work to do. Max worked on hinging a door, securing the couch, locking in our safe, and finishing our wall. We did laundry, took our last real showers, packed/ threw all of our crap in to Gus, and were on the road right before midnight. Its pretty amazing. We brought Gus home on Friday night, and we left completely redone and renovated on Wednesday. Thanks to ALL those who made this possible and to the stables house for being awesome and letting me have sleepovers.
Max drove most of the way to Niagara, NY and we spent the night at a rest stop. Gus, Max, and I slept comfortable between an Exon truck and a Walmart truck--one happy family. We hadn't had time to recharge computers, phones, or ipods before we left. If you have called me and I haven't answered thats why, it's not that I don't like you. On the way there Max and I talked about what we were most exited about. My excitement was over a play-mobile toilet meant for children ages 2-4 (but his ear holds toilet paper!). Max wants to play with our generator. Typical. Oh I also might want to add that we had to pull over on the highway because both Max and I felt that our front window was going to fall out. Turns out it was...so we had to return to trusty Home Depot to remedy the situated. Now we have a sturdy and secure window. Next Stop: Cedar point, OH and Chicago for dinner with aunt and g-ma. Until next time...
